Buddy Up When You Buy in Bulk

Everyone with a warehouse store card and no horde at home to feed needs a buddy.

Doug pointed out that your savings on bulk purchases evaporate if you can’t consume the product before it spoils or goes out of date.  But with another household to share with, waste goes down and savings go up.

My Mom is my Costco buddy.  We’re empty nesters and she lives alone, several blocks over.  Left to her own devices, she wouldn’t eat half as much produce as she does since we paired up.  With another fridge to fill, I can buy 5 pounds of pears, a dozen apples, or a bale of spinach, and split between us, it all gets eaten.

Pair up with a neighbor, a relative, a co worker, or a food bank.  Buy in bulk with a plan so you really see the savings.
